GLOBALIZATION OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR CIS COUNTRIES TO NEW MARKETS

This book (NATO ASI SERIES 4-18) contains a selection of papers given at the NATO Advanced Research Workshop on "Globalization of Science and Technology for CIS Countries to new Markets" held in Taskent, Uzbekistan, in September 1996. The workshop was sponsored by the NATO Science and Technology Policy Programme and organized by Ali Akhunov (Taskent, Uzbekistan - State Committe for Science and Technology of Republic of Uzbekistan) and Carlo Corsi (Rome Italy Consortium Roma Ricerche). The book considers the problems of science and technology related to the preservation of scientific and technological resources and support for innovation in CIS Countries and in particular in Central Asian Republics, where these issues are of particular concern present.

Particular attention is given to the globalization and innovation market and to all the related factors and actions interacting with these phenomena.

The main topics treated and discussed are: strategy for participation in global markets, organisation of innovation activities, university - industry relations, science parks, information systems for technology transfer, advanced communication technologies and network policies, international co- operation and integration in international programmes. Papers on the above and related subjects have been presented by international experts (western and CIS Countries) such as Pulat K. Khabibulaev (Uzbekistan) and George Bugliarello (U.S.A.).
