NEW SUB_SERIES CREATED

At present, numerous NATO Advanced Study Institutes and Advanced Research Workshops are being held in Cooperation Partner (CP) countries of the NATO Alliance as part of the activities supported by the NATO Science Committee in its effort to establish effective links with the former `East Bloc Countries', the CIS and Central and Eastern European countries. These meetings are co_directed by a scientist from a NATO country and a scientist from a CP country. They are organized in any of the following five PRIORITY AREAS defined so far, i.e.

1.Disarmament Technologies
2.Environment
3.High Technology
4.Science and Technology Policy
5.Computer Networking

Most of the subjects treated at these meetings come under the category of `Applied Sciences' and the resulting publications are likely to be as valuable as the state_of_the_art reports characterizing the well_known NATO ASI SERIES.

To distinguish these publications from the traditional NATO ASI SERIES volumes, however, the decision was made to create a new sub_series of the NATO ASI SERIES with the above five categories, called `Partnership Sub_Series'. KLUWER Academic Publishers, who publishes titles in `Applied Sciences' has been entrusted with the creation of this new series.
