FREE NETWORK LICENSE FOR CD_ROM

So far, the CD_ROM `NATO Science & Technology Disk" has been marketed mainly for use on individual computers with a CD_ROM reader and the license for the accompanying search software was limited to use on a single computer or work_station.

As the main users of our CD_ROM are libraries in industry, universities and research centers which are increasingly being equipped with CD_ROM servers in Local Area Networks (LAN) it became desirable to use the `NATO Science & Technology Disk" in this multi_user environment.

We are pleased to announce that the single_user license sold with the disk, has been recently upgraded to a `LAN license' without extra cost to the customer.

It is hoped that this step will allow more individual scientists to access the information published by NATO and AGARD.

As reported earlier, the `NATO Science & Technology Disk" provides easy access to two bibliographical databases: the `NATO_PCO DATABASE' with almost 50.000 references to individual contributions published in the NATO ASI SERIES and the `AGARD AEROSPACE DATABASE'covering AGARD_sponsored publications _ conference proceedings, AGARDographs (major works of long_lasting interest), lecture series, reports and advisory reports _ published from approximately 1960 to 1993. AGARD, the Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development, is a NATO agency based in Paris. Its mission is essentially to exchange information about R&D in aerospace within and between the NATO countries. A large portion of the entries in both databases contains detailed abstracts of the original papers.

The accompanying retrieval software functions in three languages, ENGLISH, FRENCH and GERMAN. The price for the CD_ROM, including the single_user and the network (LAN) license is USD 790 / DM 1,140 (excluding tax).

A more detailed information leaflet is available from PCO.

The `NATO Science & Technology Disk" can be ordered directly from PCO, Elcerlyclaan 2, B_3090 Overijse / BELGIUM (FAX:+32_2_6879882) or from any of the NATO ASI SERIES publishers.
